The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has formally cleared Samuel Muchina Nyagah to contest the upcoming Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election after emerging victorious in the party primaries.
Speaking during the presentation of the nomination certificate, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar Hassan said the party was satisfied with how the nominations were conducted, describing the exercise as peaceful and credible.
“We have completed our internal democratic process, and our focus now shifts to the grassroots as we prepare a well-coordinated campaign to earn the trust and support of the people of Ol Kalou,” he stated.
He added that the party’s campaign would be anchored on development and economic empowerment.
“Our campaign will be guided by the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda, inclusive development, and tangible progress that ensures no resident of Ol Kalou is left behind,” he added.
Hassan also commended the National Elections Board for overseeing what he termed a transparent nomination exercise.
“The NEB conducted free, fair, and credible nominations. Only one dispute was lodged and it was successfully resolved through the Electoral and Nomination Dispute Resolution Committee,” he underscored.
Nyagah now heads into the July 14, 2026 by-election with the backing of former rivals who participated in the nominations. Mary Nyokabi, Peter Njoroge Mugo, Peter Chuchu Njuguna, Maina Kiambati, Joseph Ndirangu, Ezekiah Kamweru, Daniel Ndungu, and Stanley Mwangi all pledged support for his candidacy.
“I am deeply grateful to the people of Ol Kalou and to everyone who took part in this nomination exercise. I now want us to move forward together as one team as we focus on the needs and development of our constituency,” remarked Nyagah.
Nyandarua Woman Representative Faith Gitau thanked President William Ruto for ongoing development projects in the county, saying residents had started benefiting from government programmes.
“We are grateful to our president for the development projects being implemented across Nyandarua County. The people can already see the impact on the ground,” she highlighted.
The event was attended by National Elections Board Chairperson Anthony Mwaura, former Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, party directors, and several members of the Nyandarua County Assembly.
UDA leaders said the party would now intensify grassroots mobilization efforts as campaigns begin to gather pace ahead of the by-election.
